It seems very rare lately (well, now that I mention it, since we've been married) that we have a free weekend to relax and enjoy this great city we live in. A couple of weeks ago, we did just that, and it was such a nice break!
Some of our
Brenham friends (the
Sengel's) have recently finished construction on a beautiful property overlooking Lake Travis, so my parents along with the
Metzger's (more
Brenham friends) were invited up for the weekend. Sally and Sonny, thanks again for such a nice day!
As you can see, the view is absolutely breathtaking, but definitely has a bit different look to it this summer--A huge island out in the middle! You can see from this the toll this drought has taken on our lakes. I believe all the boat ramps onto Lake Travis are now closed as well, so unless you have a boat in one of the marina's, you are either not going out or looking for another lake to enjoy.
Regardless though, this atmosphere is one of the things I love most about the Austin area. We enjoyed some much needed pool time and of course JP had to be usual self and make a funny out of a simple pool fountain. I'm not sure how it's going to be at the end of January having TWO kids in the house!
